What is breast milk jewelry?

Breast milk jewelry, simply, is jewelry made from breast milk! The milk is treated with a preserving agent and then mixed in with epoxy resin and cast to create beautiful pieces of jewelry. Each piece is uniquely made with your own liquid gold so that you can have something to memorialize your breastfeeding journey.

How do I ship my milk?

I will be sending a collection package to the address you provide that you’ll be able to fill and send right back to me!

The collection package will come with two collection vials, a syringe, a breastmilk storage bag, instructions, and a return shipping label. Once you receive it, simply use the syringe to fill the two vials with your breastmilk. Place both vials into the breastmilk storage bag and seal it tightly. Then reseal the package, slap the prepaid label on the front, and send it out in your mailbox!

After purchasing, you will receive an email that further details this process.

*You can send previously frozen or fresh milk, expired milk, or bottle leftovers- it all works!

**Note** If Lait Sous La Lune doesn’t receive your milk or hear from you within 60 days of order, your piece may be cancelled or made with a milk substitution instead.

How do I take care of my piece?

Even though we use yellow-resistant resin in our pieces, all resin is prone to discoloration over time. But if you treat it with care, it should last a lot longer. This includes not leaving it in direct sunlight (or wearing it in the sun for a long period of time), not submerging it in water, and taking it off when doing the following: going to bed, taking showers or swimming, putting on perfume or lotions, working out, cleaning using harsh chemicals, or applying hand sanitizer (for rings).

If you ordered a gold/silver plated piece, it should last a while and will only need the occasional wipe down with a gentle cloth. The outer layer of gold or silver may eventually fade and expose the brass base layer underneath, but it should still last a while.

If you ordered a sterling silver piece, the metal should look nice and silvery essentially forever. If you don’t wear it often, silver is prone to tarnishing where it’ll look dull and dirty due to oxidation. To prevent this, store your piece in an air-tight container. We will also include a silver polishing cloth in your package so that if it does start to tarnish, simply wipe it down to restore it to its original beauty!

If you ordered a gold filled piece, it is still “plated” over another metal. However, the layer of gold is really thick and it should last an extremely long time. A simple wipe down with a gentle wipe should be sufficient for the occasional cleaning.
